It’s time to start meeting in-person again! As a follow-up to our trip to GreenBiz22 in February, the Orion team traveled, via train, to the recent Salesforce World Tour in Washington D.C. Three floors of interactive learning and conversations with Salesforce leadership, other partners, and customers.
In addition to the main floor representing many of the various Salesforce applications, including marketing cloud and Slack, there was a special Net Zero Summit. The team split up and came back to New York with new knowledge and excitement.
Main Floor
Salesforce 360 says it all. The number of tools available for every organization have centralized collaboration, visibility, and reporting capabilities is outstanding. Here’s a couple things we learned!
Slack – it’s not your father’s communication tool anymore. Well, it probably never was, but you know where we’re going with this. Salesforce has turned Slack into what we can only describe as a dashboard. Companies that use any of the 3,000 connected apps can launch them from inside of Slack. We’re not talking about a new window popping up. The app options are presented right inside of Slack. You don’t go anywhere, your apps come to you!
Safety Cloud – an important new application in the wake of COVID. Keeping employees safe has become the #1 priority for companies nation-wide. Safety Cloud enables organizations to manage safety protocols including COVID testing employee vaccinations.
Net Zero Cloud – connectivity to tracking devices is on it’s way! We watched great demo of an AT&T fleet tracking device that captures the truck’s travel data and sends it into Net Zero Cloud. Then the emissions calculations are done in real-time, with live data, and no human data entry.
Net Zero Summit
Salesforce is a global leader in sustainability action. We know that as an organization they are already net zero, and the sessions at the summit continued to illuminate the need for everyone to get on the same boat!
One panel session was Patrick Flynn (SVP, Global Head of Sustainability, Salesforce) moderating a discussion from top journalists about how they avoid writing about companies that are simply greenwashing. Another informative session was Suzanne DiBianca (Chief Impact Office & EVP, Corporate Relations, Salesforce) sitting down with climate leader Dr. Katherine Wilkinson to review the actions that still need to be taken.
In the mix, of course, was a terrific demo of Net Zero Cloud by Solution Engineer, Laine Kaminski. Version 2.0 is making it easier for companies to report on Scope 3 emissions. Their “Supplier Engagement” module makes capturing upstream and downstream data a snap. And the new Waste Data Management works across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 by capturing information from multiple sources. (Read more about the Net Zero Cloud features.)
The Orion team also had the opportunity to speak with the Salesforce Net Zero Cloud product team, discussing our implementations and learning more about what’s on their roadmap. And since several of Orion’s Net Zero Cloud clients were in attendance, we were able to make introductions and expand our sustainability community, because collaboration and learning from each other is the only way we are truly going to make an impact.
Orion is proud to be a top Salesforce Net Zero implementer and we have several programs that have enabled our clients to get up and running in weeks instead of months.
